Kia ora and welcome to our first Table Talk newsletter

Our Story

Started by Guido Loeffler and Nick Lee in 2019, Innate Furniture was born in Ōtautahi Christchurch from a simple idea: to craft honest, beautiful custom furniture that’s healthy to live with, gentle on the planet, and built to stand the test of time.
We specialise in custom dining tables, made to order using NZ steel and sustainably sourced New Zealand native timbers like West Coast beech, Northland tōtara, and recycled rimu - each piece telling its own story through the character of the wood.
Each item is finished by hand using natural oils with your choice of size, shape, and colour. While dining tables are our specialty, we also craft benches, coffee tables, outdoor sets, and much more - delivering New Zealand-made quality to homes and businesses nationwide.

Warm regards,
Guido & Nick
Showcase Feature: Reverse Angled Steel
A clean, versatile design that works in any space - home, office, or hospitality.
This bestseller is popular for good reason: its angled steel base brings a bold, modern feel without overpowering the room. Pair it with any timber, in any size, shape, or colour.
We can customise it into bar leaners, desks, coffee tables - whatever you need. Strong, simple, and made to last.
“Absolutely adore our new table! If you’re looking for a bespoke piece of quality furniture please consider Innate Furniture - you won’t regret it.”
Graeme & Sue Soper, Christchurch, March 2025
Educational Feature: West Coast Beech
Aotearoa has some of the most amazing timbers available in the world.
West Coast Beech is a prime example.
Sustainably harvested via Continuous Cover Forestry (CCF) practices and heavily regulated by MPI, our focus on beech supports the responsible management of our native forests in a way that they remain in full health. Instead, a very small number of trees, spread over a large area, are permitted to be logged annually via Sustainable Forestry Management Plans (SFMP). The tree canopy remains intact. The roots stay to decay, the upper branches and foliage are food for new seedlings.

Custom colours available on request
We work together with nature, ensuring the health and biodiversity of our native forests are not only protected but valued. No need to cut down our forests and replace them with plantations. No need to import timber from questionable sources. We have world-leading forest management practices right here in Aotearoa.
New Zealand’s forestry industry tells its story through past mistakes. Over-harvesting of native trees like rimu has left many forests under threat, while large areas have been replaced with exotic plantations. By focusing on sustainably harvested West Coast beech, we’re helping to rebuild and protect Aotearoa’s native forests for future generations.
